Sabitha Joseph ’23 knew when she came to UHart that she was going to choose a program of study that would prepare her for the workforce and landing a job before graduation. The accounting and finance major from the Barney School of Business says, “I wanted a career that I could work in, even when there is a pandemic.” After she receives her degree, she plans on working for PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor. She believes UHart has supported her in her professional and academic journey, preparing her for her new role at PwC.
While at UHart, Joseph utilized her on-campus support network to land an internship with her future employer, which she completed this spring. She worked with the Office of Career and Professional Development, the Center for Student Success, and her professors. She says, “They provided the resources that I would need to prepare me for my interviews, internship, and life outside of school.” She goes on to say the connections with her professors and freshman advisor, Arlene Maddox, were important as well. “My accounting professors really took the time to prepare me for the work I would be doing,” she says.
Outside the classroom, Joseph was involved as a member of the Residence Hall Association and the Women's Soccer Club. Being in the library and meeting new friends are some of her favorite memories so far. “Even though I had to do my college years during a pandemic, it was good,” she says. For new students, she advises, “Reach out when you need help. Don’t wait till it is too late.”
