Johnathan Morris-Chunn M’25 recently received his master’s degree, with a concentration in project management, from the Barney School of Business.
Driven by positive project outcomes since early on, Johnathan knew he had found the right academic track the moment he heard about Barney’s project management concentration in its MBA program. He appreciated the diverse faculty, their expertise, and their unique approach to coursework.
Johnathan works at CIGNA as a sales support senior supervisor in their national accounts segment, where he leads a a team of 18 analysts. In addition to giving Barney credit with helping him get to this point in his career, he also acknowledges the Project Management Institute and its certification program. He received certification less than six weeks after graduating. “I am so thankful for the strong foundation UHart provided in my chosen area of study and know that it will serve me well as I continue to grow in the field of project management,” Johnathan says.
Two individuals from Barney have a particularly high spot on his appreciation list. Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management Vicky Luo led classes, he notes, that were an incredible resource—engaging, challenging, and enriching. Cynthia Waters, Cigna MBA academic services coordinator, provided the support he needed to succeed.
Johnathan also has a BA in hospitality administration and an MS in hospitality management from Stephen F. Austin State University and University of North Texas, respectively. He began his professional career at Walt Disney World, where he held such positions as cook, baker, food and beverage coordinator, and restaurant guest experience manager.
In his personal life, Johnathan lives with his husband, Finley, and their three dogs: Sassy, Fiyero, and Missy. He has a huge collection of house plants, succulents, and cacti that he loves to tend to and it is constantly growing larger. Johnathan also loves to cook and bake, and he donates the desserts for his area’s yearly Pride Prom for LGBTQ+ youth.
