Tom Krasniqi '22 is a senior management major at the Barney School of Business, who aspires to be a project manager when he graduates. This past summer, he was able to gain hands-on experience, interning as a program manager for Danbury Mission Technologies, a defense and aerospace company.
During his internship, Tom strengthened his skills in budgeting and forecasting. He was also tasked with working on financial projects for programs within the company. One of Tom’s favorite aspects of the internship was having the opportunity to spend time shadowing a full-time program manager.
Tom says being a student in the Barney School led him in the right direction in starting his professional career. “Throughout my classes at Barney,” he says, “I’ve learned how to network myself, build my résumé to stand out from others, and how to ace an interview.” Tom explains that Barney offers many opportunities for students to be successful while also having supportive professors. “With friendly professors, advisors, and mentors, I knew the Barney School of Business was a perfect fit for me,” he adds.
Outside the classroom, Tom is a member of Delta Sigma Phi and the National Society of Leadership and Success here at the University. His advice to incoming students is to get involved on campus and join as many clubs as possible. Tom says that this is a great way to meet new people and develop friendships, as well as networking and building connections with classmates and alumni.
