Performances will take place in Lincoln Theater on April 10, 11, and 12 at 7:30 p.m., with an additional matinee on April 12 at 2:00 p.m.

The program consists of five dynamic works, all performed by talented students from the Hartt School Dance Division:

  • Fandango: A fiery classical ballet set to the music of Antonio Soler, Fandango tells the story of five women in a South Spanish square, each believing she is superior to the others. What follows is a spirited and playful competition as the rivals vie for dominance.
  • Dreamland: An original work by Ralph Perkins, Dreamland explores the fluidity of dreams, set to an eclectic musical score by David Byrne and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). The piece delves into the surreal landscapes of the subconscious mind.
  • Mazurkas: A timeless classic choreographed by José Limón to the music of Frédéric Chopin, Mazurkas pays tribute to the spirit of the Polish people, inspired by the Limón Company’s 1957 visit to Poland.
  • Diggity: A masterwork by Paul Taylor, Diggity is described as “a mysteriously joyous... wonderful, crazy excursion into the unknown.” The piece features Alex Katz's iconic dog portraits as obstacles for the dancers to navigate through in their playful and exuberant journey. Critics have hailed the work for its infectious energy and inventive choreography.
  • In the Atmosphere: Created by Danielle Genest, Artistic and Executive Director of Newport Contemporary Ballet, In the Atmosphere is a lush and expansive work set to the haunting music of Hanai Rani. The piece offers a contemplative and immersive experience, transporting audiences to an ethereal world.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at University of Hartford box office. Tickets must be purchased in advance—they will not be available at the door. University of Hartford students, faculty, and staff are eligible for one free ticket with a valid University ID.
