By making the final eight, they will represent the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business at RIMS 2022 Risk World in April. This is one of the largest Risk and Insurance events in the world and will be well attended by a broad network of industry insiders and professionals.
Team members include:
Matt D’Aleo ’23, a finance major and risk management and insurance minor
Sierra Farrell ’24, a double major in business analytics and managerial economics & risk management and insurance
Yashad Sinkar ’22, a risk management and insurance major with an actuarial science minor
Ethan Venoit ’24, a finance major
“The Spencer-RIMS Challenge is an experience-based opportunity with real-world research, briefing and presentation responsibilities,” explains Professor Ken Goldstein, a Clinical Instructor of Risk Management and Insurance at Barney, and the team’s advisor. “This year, the team was fortunate to comprehensively evaluate a Starbucks’ case study which affords practical learning and engagement for those looking to enter the industry from a career perspective. Sierra, Yashad, Matt, and Ethan worked exceptionally hard (including over their semester breaks) as a part of the competition’s briefing and presentation rounds. They are honored for the opportunity to compete in the next stage of the Challenge as a part of RIMS 2022 Risk World. We are very proud of them!”
