Maybe you recently got married or had a baby, celebrated a promotion or professional milestone, or had a gathering with some UHart friends. Whatever your news may be, share your UHart pride with your fellow alumni by submitting a class note or tagging us on social media. Select news and posts may be published in a future issue of H magazine. Notes are posted on a quarterly basis in March, June, September, and December and are archived after 2 years.
1985 | Anthony Susi
Anthony Susi's (Hartt) published march, First Responders, initially premiered by Capital Winds, is a National semi-finalist in the 2023 American Prize for Pops/Light Composition.
1990 | Lauren Bernofsky
Lauren Bernofsky's (Hartt) opera, MOOCH THE MAGNIFICENT, was performed at the 2022 Festival Internacional de Artes Vivas in Loja, Ecuador.
1993 | Jocelyn Shepard Feder
Jocelyn Shepard Feder (A&S) recently took on the role of Vice President of Human Resources, Americas, at Lectra, Inc. (an international company). She handles a team of five, and oversees offices in Tolland, CT, Smyrna, GA, Mexico City, Brazil, and Chile.
2002 | Francis Rexford Cooley
Francis Rexford Cooley (ENHP) was elected State Representative for the 22nd District in Connecticut's General Assembly.
2002 | Iain Quinn
Dr. Iain Quinn (Hartt) was promoted to Professor of Organ at Florida State University. He is slated to publish two new books in 2023: Music and Religion in the Writings of Ian McEwan (Boydell & Brewer); Rudolph Ganz, Patriotism, and Standardization of The Star-Spangled Banner, 1907-1958 (Routledge).
2003 | Danielle Freni Beaton
Daneille Freni Beaton (A&S) got married twice (due to COVID-19) in 2020 and 2021.
2003 | Chad Austein
Chad Austein (A&S) began his role as the Director of Enrollment Management Systems at Yeshiva University.
2010 & 2012 | Stephen Sobocinski & Danielle Sobocinski (Etta)
Stephen Sobocinski (CETA) and Danielle Sobocinski (A&S) welcomed a baby, Alaina Lynn Sobocinski, on Jan. 30, 2023.
2012 | Wiliam A. Davila
Dr. William A. Davila (ENHP) was named New President & Chief Executive Officer of Villa of Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides education, treatment, and services for youth, adults, and families struggling with mental health and substance use.
2014 | Mary Matthews
Dr. Mary Matthews (Hartt) has been appointed Assistant Professor of Flute at Florida State University's College of Music beginning in the fall of 2023.
2014 | Sydney Anderson
Sydney Anderson (Hartt) founded an interdisciplinary arts collective, called The Why Collective. After a wildly successful launch project in 2022, they were granted a residency at Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre, a renowned experimental theatre in Chelsea, NYC.
2014 & 2015 | Adara Brookler and Ben Patterson
Adara Brookler (ENHP) and Ben Patterson (Barney, MBA'21) got engaged on December 24, 2022 on the H in Alumni Plaza on the UHart campus. They met at Hartford Hillel and subsequently served on the Hillel board together. While they went their separate ways following college, they reunited during the pandemic and are grateful to UHart for bringing them together.
