Timothy Wang ‘24 has a passion for architecture, because he believes design can help solve contemporary issues. By the time he graduates this May, he’ll already have real-world experience in the field.
Timothy is currently interning at HAPi studio, having already worked as an intern at TSKP Studio in Hartford. “I develop and produce a wide range of detailed drawings from small residential to large scale commercial projects. Responsibilities include Project Coordination, Design, 3D-Modeling, and developing design/ construction documentation.” Timothy says he appreciates the level of responsibility he has to produce drawings and designs. He says his internships “have taught me the language that architects use to communicate and thrive in the profession.”
Timothy has held several roles in the campus’s chapter of AIAS, the American Institute of Architecture Students. He joined as Treasurer, then served as President, and is now Graphics Coordinator. Timothy says one of his favorite experiences was designing and building the sukkah during Fall 2022 and helping to plan the annual Beaux Arts Ball.
Timothy says his favorite part of the UHart and CETA experience has been the community feeling, not only on campus, but within the Department of Architecture. He says he appreciates knowing most of the people within his major, which isn’t common at larger schools. He has also been able to attend CETA career fairs and events to network with industry professionals. In addition, Timothy completed a study abroad in Florence, Italy during his junior year which he says helped him understand how design and construction methods are applied in other parts of the world.
Outside of campus, Timothy likes to travel, spend time with his friends and family, and advance his design portfolio. After graduation, he plans to become a licensed architect.
