Actions of Public Safety Officers and Students Recognized at Special Ceremony

May 21, 2019

On Wednesday, May 15, the campus community came together to recognize the officers and students who assisted during the unfortunate events of March 31. Chief of Public Safety Michael Kaselouskas and President Gregory Woodward reflected on the unfortunate circumstances of that day, but highlighted the great work that UHart students and officers did to inform authorities and assist those in need of help.

Three students received the Chief’s Letter of Appreciation for their assistance during the incident. Along with the students, three members of UHart’s public safety team—Corporal Darren Pearson, Officer Gabrielle Arruda, and Officer Michael Drew—were honored at the event, each receiving the Life Saving Award for their efforts at the scene.

The ceremony was followed by a reception, where the injured students and their families had a chance to thank the officers and students for their actions that day.
