Senior Regents' Honor Awards Ceremony

On Friday, April 4, we held our 64th Annual Senior Regents’ Honor Awards Banquet to celebrate the academic achievements of some of our most outstanding seniors. The program was led by Provost Black, with remarks from President Ward. Awards were presented to the below students:

UNIVERSITY INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES AWARD:

This award is bestowed to a student who exhibits intellectual curiosity and motivation in areas outside their major, is able to look at issues through multiple perspectives, and has demonstrated scholarly or creative accomplishments in UIS courses:

Hilary Bareiss: Major in Visual Communication Design and Minors in Judaic Studies, Printmaking, and Art History 

PART-TIME BACCALAUREATE AWARD:

This award was established to honor a baccalaureate recipient studying on a part-time basis while at the University of Hartford with the highest-grade point average of those eligible:

Cynthia Montano: Ba in University Studies with a concentration in Paralegal Studies

ERNEST A. DUDLEY AWARD:

The Ernest A. Dudley Award was established by the Class of 1968 in honor of Dr. Ernest A. Dudley, who was the Director of the University Evening College (now the Office of Graduate & Adult Services) from 1946 to 1969. Dr. Dudley received an honorary doctorate from the University of Hartford in 1969:

SOLOMON ELSNER AWARDS:

The Solomon Elsner Award was established in 1962 by the Moses Fox Club in honor of Judge Solomon Elsner, who received an honorary doctorate from the University in 1962. This award recognizes the outstanding full-time graduating seniors with the highest GPA, a perfect 4.0 over all four years. The award includes the presentation of a plaque and a cash prize to the below recipients:

  • Evan Blass, Criminal Justice major with Sociology minor
  • Alexandros Cooke-Politikos, Computer Science and Physics double major
  • Alena Doll, Architecture Design and Technology major
  • Grace Farland, Integrated Elementary and Special Education major

  • Austin Gambel, Accounting, Business Analytics and Managerial Economics major
  • Ethan Garstka, Cinema major
  • Greta Hightower, Biochemistry major with Mathematics minor

  • Meghan Mulhern, Integrated Elementary and Special Education major
  • Christina Patmanidis, Architecture Design and Technology major

  • Victoria Radcliffe, Acoustical Engineering major concentrating in Classical Oboe with Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering minors
  • Marcus SantaMaria, Exercise Science major
  • Makenna Sweeney, English Secondary Education major with Spanish minor
  • Anna Vumback, Accounting major

HILLYER ASSOCIATE DEGREE AWARDS:

The Hillyer Associate Degree Awards are presented to two full-time students who have a GPA of at least 3.0 and who have completed at least 30 credits in Hillyer College:

  • Avishai Edelman: ssociate’s Degree in Liberal Arts continuing on to Communication major in A&S
  • Emily Unger: ssociate’s Degree in Liberal Arts continuing on to Education major in ENHP

SENIOR REGENTS’ HONOR AWARDS:

Each year we honor two seniors from each college who not only have high grade point averages but who also have demonstrated excellence and accomplishments directly related to their studies in activities such as performances, artistic works, research projects and papers, presentations, publications, designs, independent studies, and more.  he below seniors were selected by a faculty committee in each of their colleges:
