Unusually High Number of Phishing Emails

Like all institutions of higher learning, the University of Hartford continuously receives phishing emails. Yesterday, however, we experienced an unusually high volume of them. We are actively working to remove the malicious emails and modify our spam filter rules to block them in the future.

This particular email originated from one of several Gmail accounts, not a University account. The blue and white warning banner visually denotes that the email originated from Gmail; we, ITS, add the banner to incoming emails from Gmail. The message consisted only of a Word document attachment, which is also suspicious and should raise phishing concerns for the recipient.

Please do not open unexpected attachments and do not click on links from unexpected emails. If you did interact with this email, please contact the Help Desk immediately at helpdesk@hartford.edu or at x4357 (HELP).
