Researchers from the Hydration Health Center in the Department of Health Sciences are conducting a study to better understand the relationships between hydration, health and performance. Collaborating researchers include faculty from the Department of Psychology and the Department of Computing Sciences. Participants will be compensated with cash for their time.
Who can be in this study?
- Anyone who is between the ages of 18–40
- Does not use nicotine (any form)
- Is not taking medications to help with anxiety, depression, diabetes, kidney disease, or other conditions that affect body water
- Does not exercise more than 2.5 hours per week
What will participants be asked to do?
- Not exercise and not drink alcohol for 12 days in a row
- Eat the same food (all meals and snacks) for 10 days in a row
- Visit the lab in the morning for 10 days in a row (Dana Hall)
- Drink only the water given to you for 8 days in a row
- You will collect a first morning sample of your urine for 10 days in a row, and all of your urine (24h sample) for 3 of these days
- You will have your blood drawn on 7 of these 10 days
- The total time commitment will be about 4 hours spread over the 10 days of participation
