In collaboration with Upper Albany Main Street, the Barney School of Business hosted the first-ever Empowering Entrepreneurship Showcase on Thursday, Feb. 27, as part of its Career Ready programming. The event highlighted ten small, locally owned businesses, some of which were founded by Barney students.
University students, faculty, staff, and community members attended to explore unique products and services, connect with business owners, and support local entrepreneurship. The showcase provided an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with the businesses and discover offerings from the Greater Hartford community.
Following the showcase, a panel discussion featured entrepreneur Rasto Ivanic, Barney adjunct professor and entrepreneur Sam McGee, and Barney lecturer of management and organizational behavior Chavon Campbell. The discussion offered valuable insights into the entrepreneurial journey, fostering connections between local businesses and the UHart community.
This inaugural event successfully celebrated innovation, strengthened community ties, and reinforced the Barney School of Business’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship in Greater Hartford.
