The Hartford Business Journal recently featured a profile of Manny Sanchez, UHart’s director of community engagement and industry partnerships.
Sanchez, a Connecticut state representative from New Britain, was asked about his work as co-chair of the Connecticut general assembly’s labor and public employees committee. His co-chair, Senator Julie Kushner from Danbury, was also featured.
The committee works on bills that are of vital importance to employees and labor groups throughout the state. Topics include paid family and medical leave, minimum wage issues, how much religion and politics can be made part of the work environment, and unionization.
Sanchez, who brings the same level of dedication and fortitude to his position in the state capital as he does to his role at UHart, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2020, joined the labor and public employees committee as vice chair in 2021, and became co-chair in 2023.
“I like to say that everybody is welcome to my table,” he says in the highly commendable profile, which also discusses his childhood, education, and incentives. “I never want to just take a one-sided view.”
