Join us in Celebrating the Achievements of the University of Hartford Alumnae!
The Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership for Social Justice in Collaboration with the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies invites you to a “Virtual Book Talk” with alumnae, Jennifer Hernandez ‘15, program coordinator and professor of Human Services at CT State Community College (Middlesex) and Lisa Wisniewski ‘17, professor of Sociology at Goodwin University.
These alumnae have written, and published books based on their dissertations. Courageous choices: Stories of resiliency in teen mothering by Dr. Hernandez is a strong and forthright narrative, revealing the emotional strength and dispositional optimism of teen mothers. It depicts their journey from teen moms to successful adults, providing a valuable tool to those in social service. Navigating Education as a Forgotten Immigrant: Perspectives of the Eastern European Community by Dr. Wisniewski is an astute investigation into the educational needs of Eastern European immigrants. Dr Wisniewski collected personal accounts from Eastern European community members living in the United States, highlighting their challenges, contributions, and identity development. The text provides a significant contribution to uncovering the immigrant experience.
Both books have been lauded by reviewers, promising an inspiring and thought-provoking evening.
We hope you will join us to honor these accomplished authors and learn from their powerful stories!
