It's a great time of the year to remember UHart's Gambling policy. What type of fundraisers are allowed and not allowed? What kinds of prizes are and are not allowed? Find those answers in the student handbook and read the full policy on page 19.
With the superbowl and March Madness around the corner, keep in mind some specific activities that are not permitted, as listed in the gambling policy (not a complete listing):
Activities not allowed:
- ‘Squares’ for non-University of Hartford athletic teams (‘March Madness,’ Superbowl, etc.) in which square(s) are purchased as a part of a fundraiser
- Any sports wagering on a UHart athletic team/player
- Skill-based game with a purchase to enter/participate in the game (card-betting game)
Prizes not allowed:
1. Liquor (alcohol/ liquor cannot be a part of a raffle basket per CT state law);
2. Items prohibited on or off campus, as established in this student handbook or by law;
3. Recipients of gift cards cannot use the gift card to purchase item(s) that are prohibited on or off campus, as established in this student handbook or by law;
4. Limitations in prizes per University Hartford ‘gift/award policy’ (to view this policy, one must use UHart credentials to sign in/verify current employee/ student).
