Ever "committed to community," these offerings through HCD include a revised discount for all HCD classes and lessons (now 25 percent off), a free First Steps in Music Friday class (for UHart employees' families with children ages 0-5), and the continuation of the popular free dance movement class for UHart employees.

Revised Tuition Discounts for Hartt Community Division classes and lessons

The Hartt Community Division will continue its tuition discounts (25%) for all faculty and staff families. This includes all music and dance offerings through HCD. Please follow this link for further information.

Friday First Steps in Music Classes free to University Faculty and Staff

The class will be meeting on Fridays beginning on Jan. 17 from 9:30 a.m.–10:15 a.m.

Come and make music with Miss Mallory at First Steps in Music! This program is for children ages 0-5 and their grown-ups. Children and adults are engaged in a variety of activities, including bounces, finger wiggles, action songs, vocal exploration, movement exploration, playing instruments, ball rolling, and more! First Steps in Music is a wonderful opportunity for children to have fun, interact with other children, and bond with their grown-up, all while beginning their journey to becoming tuneful, “beat-ful”, and artful.

This program is taught by Mallory Kokus. She is a FAME Certified First Steps in Music teacher, a professional musician, and mother of three. Mallory is a faculty member of the Hartt Community Division, where she is instructor of saxophone and instructor of First Steps in Music.

Movement Class continues! Offered to all University of Hartford Employees

The Hartt Community Division will once again be sponsoring a free series of dance movement classes this winter on Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m., starting Jan. 21. Classes will be appropriate for everyone without regard to their level of movement experience. Classes will help participants improve their movement abilities and boost overall mood in a fun, upbeat environment. No experience needed.

Participants will be provided with a class schedule in advance of the start of the program so they know what style of dance they can expect for each class; ex. lyrical, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, Zumba, etc. Participants should wear moveable clothing such as athletic wear with dance shoes or socks on their feet.

Where: The Hartt School’s Handel Performing Arts Center (HPAC) 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford
