Jennifer Ellenberger has been a part of The Hartt School Costume Shop for 19 years. She started out as a part-time stitcher and worked her way up to the Cutter/Draper position which she has held for the last six years. While working at UHart, Jen continued working in professional costume studios in Connecticut that feed the Broadway stages. She has worked significantly on the likes of Hamilton, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Wicked, and many, many more.
“Jen’s energy is larger than life. On the hardest of days—she is positive, upbeat, and smiling. It is truly infectious. Her passion and precision for costuming is evident in every piece she touches and is reflected directly to the stage. Her talent is unprecedented. The University truly does not know the commodity we have had in Jen. She is going to be missed greatly,” says Costume Shop Manager, Collette Benoit.
While working full time (plus) in the Costume Shop, Jen earned her MBA and Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation (MSAT) at the University of Hartford. She has taken a position with Price Waterhouse in Hartford, starting in 2025.
