Upper Albany Community Meets with President Ward

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Upper Albany community of Hartford had the opportunity to meet & greet with President Ward. As a part of the Barney School of Business, Upper Albany Main Street (UAMS) was established in 2000 as an economic development, community revitalization organization. Each year, students gain valuable entrepreneurial experience assisting small businesses through supervised micro business incubator consulting projects.

At the event, the Barney students currently participating in this project, faculty, staff, local business owners, Senator Douglas McCrory, Speaker Matt Ritter, and more came together with President Ward to ask questions about the university and our plans to engage with the local community.

This comes right after the City of Hartford awarded a $500K Grant to Upper Albany Main Street last week. The grant will allow UAMS to give neighborhood business owners access to digital knowledge and tools. Congratulations to Beverly Redd, the Executive Director of UAMS on this incredible accomplishment!
