Election Day Resources and Voting Information

Election Day information for students from Vice President and Dean of Student Success Aaron Isaacs

Dear Students,

With Election Day now here, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of participating in our democracy.

Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to shape the future of our community and country. As civil rights activist Stacey Abrams has said, “The power of the vote is the power to create change,” emphasizing the vital role each of us plays in that process.

Voter Registration/Polling Places

If you need information about voter registration or polling stations in our area, visit our Hawks Vote website. You can also visit the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion in GSU 207 or email mosleywil@hartford.edu

Election Day Shuttle Service

On Election Day today, we have a shuttle service to local polling stations. It will depart from Konover Campus Center until 6 p.m. Register at this link.

Election Night Watch Party

Tonight, there will be spaces in University Commons to watch news coverage of the returns. The watch party will run from 7-11 p.m. in the Hawk’s Nest. There will also be overflow space and refreshments upstairs in Commons and the private dining room.

Post-Election Conversation

Professors Jilda Aliotta and Bilal Sekou will host a post-election conversation for the entire UHart community on Monday, November 11, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in the Shaw Center. This program, sponsored by the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging, will provide an opportunity for all students, faculty, and staff to gather, reflect, and unpack the possible impacts of the election.

At the University of Hartford, we uphold values of inclusivity, respect, and civility. We encourage all students to engage in the electoral process while embracing diverse perspectives.
Regardless of the election outcome, we recognize that emotions may run high, and it is crucial that we support one another. If you need extra support, our Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) office is available.

Let’s remember our commitment to each other as a community. Together, we can navigate this election season with civility and respect for all viewpoints.

Thank you for being an essential part of our university community.

Go Vote!

Aaron
