October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM)

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), and we are excited to introduce our #CyberAware campaign at the University of Hartford. As cybersecurity becomes more critical in our daily lives, this campaign aims to empower everyone in our community with the knowledge and tools to protect our data and systems.

This year’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month has four key themes that will guide our efforts throughout October:

  1. Use strong passwords and a password manager – Learn the best ways to safeguard your personal information and sensitive data, both at home and at school.
  2. Secure Your Devices – Understand the importance of updating your devices and utilizing best practices for securing mobile phones, tablets, and computers.
  3. Combat Phishing—Spot and stop phishing attacks by identifying suspicious emails, links, and messages before you become a victim of cyber threats.
  4. Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)—MFA Strengthens your online security, adding an extra layer of protection to your accounts and data.

To support these efforts, we will provide cybersecurity training for all faculty and staff. This training will cover practical tips and strategies for implementing cybersecurity best practices in your professional and personal lives. Look out for emails for these sessions, as your participation will be key in fostering a more secure digital environment across our university.

We encourage you to engage in the #CyberAware campaign by joining the conversation, sharing your cybersecurity tips, and staying alert to evolving cyber threats. Together, we can create a safer digital community at the University of Hartford.
