Respiratory Care Week is October 20-26, and Karen Griffiths, director of the Respiratory Care program here at UHart, knows the importance of recognizing this profession all too well.
Karen was recently featured on Fox 61 where she appeared as part of a task force that is shining a light on the shortage of radiologic technologists and respiratory therapists in the State of Connecticut.
"Respiratory therapists work in a variety of settings, but we predominantly work in hospitals and especially ICUs," Griffiths said. "We don't have enough respiratory therapists in the state to fill all those positions, and it can negatively impact patient care."
University of Hartford is helping to contribute to this shortage as we prepare students to take on the workforce through our Radiologic Technology and Respiratory Care programs.
