Susan Gottlieb, the Office Coordinator for the Judaic Studies program and the School of Communication, is retiring after almost 30 years at the University of Hartford. She has been vital to the continued success of those units and will be greatly missed. Her colleagues have been impressed by her professionalism, insight, honesty, and generous spirit to help others succeed in their endeavors. Susan has a great institutional memory and knows practically everyone at the University which has been invaluable for making connections and solving problems.
She has been a warm, kind presence for students, faculty and staff, always willing to provide support and the occasional bagel for those who would stop by to see her in the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies. Her visitors may have left a bit heavier thanks to her delicious baked goods but also a bit lighter because of she would lift people’s spirits with her empathy and sharp sense of humor.
Please stop by the Center at HJG 300 on Wednesday, Oct. 30, any time between 12:45 p.m.–2 p.m., to congratulate Susan on her decades of service to the University. At this event you will have the opportunity to sign a memory book where you can leave a note that Susan can take with her to remind her of her invaluable legacy at the University and all the lives she touched with her kindness. Dessert with be served at the event.
Please send emails describing your fond memories of Susan and wishing her the best to Lisa Langsner, Director of Jewish Student Life, and Director, University of Hartford Hillel, at langsner@hartford.edu. She will curate an album of these notes to give to Susan to remember all of us as she begins the next chapter of her life.
