Department of Computing Sciences to Move from A&S to CETA

After a detailed assessment, the University of Hartford will be transferring the Department of Computing Sciences from the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) to the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA). This shift is scheduled to take effect for the fall semester of 2025.

This collaborative decision was made with the Computing Sciences faculty, A&S and CETA leadership, and the Provost’s Office, following a yearlong series of conversations.

Our Computing Sciences students will now have access to even more industry partners and educational opportunities through the resources of CETA, including in the areas of career development and professional networking. Additionally, vibrant intellectual exchanges for faculty, staff, and students alike—so valuable for class engagement and for collaborative projects and research—will be enhanced.

Computing Sciences will be a self-contained department within CETA and will remain based in Dana Hall. All degrees will continue to be offered, and the curriculum—as outlined in the Catalog when our students matriculated—will remain the same.

The department will continue to offer all academic programs currently available—three undergraduate degrees, one graduate degree, one minor, and one certificate. It will also still provide general education courses for the campus.
