Barney Hosting Guest Speaker on Enterprise Risk Management

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Barney School of Business is pleased to have James Lam, an industry wide respected risk management consultant, who will discuss Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) trends and developments globally. Likewise, Mr. Lam will provide insight to global risks facing organizations today and the role of the board in risk governance and oversight. He will also discuss approaches to integrating emerging risks including ESG, AI, cyber security and geopolitical risks into oversight activities. There will also be a Q&A session. 

Currently, Mr. Lam is a board director with Blackrock iShares Funds and president of the risk management consulting firm James Lam & Associates. Mr. Lam previously held the position of Chief Risk Officer at Fidelity Investments implementing their ERM program featured as a best-practice in The Economist, Risk Magazine, and Price Waterhouse Review. In 1997, Mr. Lam received the Risk Manager of the Year Award from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

Mr. Lam graduated summa cum laude with a BBA from Baruch College and an MBA with honors from UCLA. He has guest lectured at Harvard Business School and is on the Carnegie Mellon University faculty for their Chief Risk Officer Executive Certification Program
