The Hartt Theatre Division proudly presents a bold, contemporary adaptation of Edmond Rostand's classic play, Cyrano de Bergerac. This reimagined production, set to a dynamic contemporary beat, will run from Oct. 4–6, at Millard Auditorium.

In this fresh interpretation, Cyrano de Bergerac is transformed into a modern tale that fuses the wit, romance, and poetic language of the original with the energy and rhythm of hip hop culture. Directed by Christopher Andrew Rowe, this production brings together a talented cast of Hartt Theatre Division students, who will combine powerful spoken word, rap, and contemporary dance to breathe new life into this timeless story of love, bravery, and self-expression.

“We wanted to create a version of “Cyrano” that speaks to today's audiences,” said Theatre Division Director, Kevin Ramsey. “By blending the poetic elements of the original text with the vibrant energy of hip hop, we hope to explore the themes of love, identity, and courage in a way that is both relatable and compelling.”

The Hartt Theatre Division’s production of Cyrano de Bergerac promises to be a unique theatrical experience, featuring an innovative set design, modern costumes, and an original hip hop dance that captures the essence of the story while making it accessible to contemporary audiences.

Performance Schedule:

Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
