Bell was a cherished member of The Hartt School community for 31 years. He began his tenure on campus as director of technical theater before being named managing director of Lincoln Theater, where he also oversaw the University's box office. "David Bell’s passing marked the end of an era at The Hartt School and is a tremendous loss for our community," says Dale Merrill, dean of The Hartt School and Hartford Art School. “Over his 31 years here, David’s contributions were invaluable, working with many deans and leaving a lasting legacy. I was honored to work with him as his last dean. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.

“Beyond his professional dedication to theatre, David’s love for his family, his beloved pup, single malt scotch, and The Hartt School were truly remarkable," Merrill continues. "His impact on students was profound, inspiring countless individuals to pursue their passions and achieve their dreams—as he did working in theatre."

A celebration of David Bell’s life will take place in Millard Auditorium on the UHart campus on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
