As we approach an exciting new academic year, and in an effort to provide all employees with advance notice of University time off, I am pleased to provide the schedule of University holidays and gift days for fall 2024 through summer 2025.
Last year, in support of our student and community well-being, the University added a Fall Break to the academic calendar. UHart’s fall semesters had traditionally continued without a reprieve, from the start of classes all the way to Thanksgiving. The Break was implemented to provide a pause in the semester for students, faculty, and staff— and to allow for a mental recharge. This year, Fall Break will take place October 10–11, and the University will once again be closed during this time.
In recognition of our deep commitment to students and the dedication of faculty and staff throughout the year, the University is also adding three additional gift days this year. The University will be closed the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 27) and Winter Break will begin early on Monday, Dec. 23 (full break will be Dec. 23–Jan. 1).
All other holiday time has returned to a normal schedule, as outlined in our employee manual. As always, you are encouraged to use your vacation time to take or extend time off, to enjoy time with friends and family, as well as rejuvenate and recharge.
