National Endowment for the Humanities / National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities

Funding amount:  Between $50,000 and $150,000

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Education Programs is accepting applications for the Humanities Connections program. This program seeks to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education at two- and four-year institutions by encouraging partnerships between humanities faculty and their counterparts in other areas of study. Humanities Connections projects should plan or implement a curriculum connecting the humanities to one or more non-humanities fields, including but not limited to the physical and natural sciences; preservice or professional programs, including law and business; or computer science, data science, and other technology-driven fields. Projects must incorporate the approaches and learning activities of both the humanities and the non-humanities disciplines involved

 

Webinar Opportunity:  Alan T. Waterman Award

Deadline: Sept. 20, 2024

Funding Amount:  $1M over five years

The Alan T. Waterman Award recognizes an outstanding early career researcher in any field of science or engineering supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation. The annual award is the nation's highest honor for early-career scientists and engineers. In addition to a medal, the awardee receives a grant of $1,000,000 over a five-year period for scientific research or advanced study in the science and engineering disciplines supported by the National Science Foundation at the institution of their choice. Congress established the award in August 1975 to mark NSF's 25th anniversary and to honor the agency's first director.

 

NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship - National Academy of Education

Deadline:  Oct. 3, 2024 (by 5 p.m.)

Funding amount:  $27,500

This fellowship encourages a new generation of scholars from various discipline and professional fields to undertake research relevant to improving education.  This fellowship supports candidates whose dissertation projects bring innovative and insightful approaches to the history, theory, analysis, or application of formal and informal education. As a highly competitive initiative, this fellowship annually identifies and supports 35 of the most exceptional researchers conducting dissertation studies relevant to education.

 

Core Fellowship Program, Penland School of Crafts

Deadline: Oct. 9, 2024

Funding amount: Penland provides housing, tuition for classes, and meals while school is in session. Core fellows receive a stipend of $500 every two weeks.

The Penland Core Fellowship Program is a two-year work-study fellowship for early career artists looking to expand technical skills and material fluency while working to support the day-to-day operations of a craft school. Artists of all backgrounds who want to advance their educational goals and explore their capacity to contribute to a thriving creative community are encouraged to apply. The goal of the program is to shape the future of contemporary craft by creating opportunity, connection, and immersive education for early career artists who bring a range of perspectives and goals to the school.
