Geralyn Merrill is Retiring After 23 Years of Service

Having worn many hats over many decades, Geralyn Merrill is about to leave the University of Hartford in her rear view for a much-deserved retirement.

You may know her from her time in Admissions as a research assistant, or from CETA, as a budget manager, or from coordinating Faculty Senate—but the point is that you know her. You know her smile and you know her laugh, and when you’re around her you know you’re around good people.

Geralyn came to ITS in 2019 as we were standing up our in-house helpdesk, eager to learn new skills and take advantage of a second shift schedule so she could perform “Mimi duty” for her grandchildren (who, last I checked, number in the low dozens). While the Helpdesk has had something of a rotating cast of characters over these past five years, Geralyn has remained our one constant. If you needed something after business hours, student or staff, she would be there for you. When her job duties expanded to include helping with the ID office, there would often be a purple streak in the air as she rushed to help someone next door. At her core, she is always there to help – and we will miss her greatly.

Please join us in saying so long (but not farewell) to Geralyn on her last day, Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Computer Center (room 117) from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sweet treats (and gluten-free, of course!) will be served.
