His presentation on globalization, transnationalism, and interculturality in music is ititled “Narrative Across the Pacific: Pansori Performance and its Reception History in the US.” It discusses the evolution of pansori, an epic narrative chant designated as United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ha will present a chronological framework divided into five overlapping phases over the last six decades, focusing on how each phase aligns with Korea’s evolving political, socio-cultural, and economic contexts. The timeline spans from the post-war reconstruction of the 1950s, influenced by Cold War ideologies, through the 1960s cultural heritage system established by the government, the economic boom shaping modern national identity, and the contemporary era of globalization.
