New Career Closet Grand Opening on Sept. 18
The Career Closet is a fixture of the Barney School of Business Career Ready Program. Originally located in Auerbach, the Career Closet has its grand opening in GSU 200B (across from the information desk) on Monday, Sept.18. Students from all majors, schools, and colleges can frequent the closet, which is run by the Barney Leadership Council (BLC).
The Career Closet is a community wardrobe that provides all students with access to business professional and business casual clothing for the purpose of creating equity in the ability to interview for jobs, internships, and future career paths. This closet allows for students to borrow clothing regardless of size, gender, or status in order for them to have an equal opportunity in professionalism when attending either a remote or in-person interview.
The purpose of the Career Closet is to ensure students are prepared to go into any situation that requires professionalism fully prepared.
"The Career Closet is a great way to make a good first impression whether that be for an interview or an event here on campus. Items can be bought or rented and are accessible to all students who would like to utilize the closet. The goal is to allow people to stand out, look their best, and unlock access to new opportunities to pursue their ambitions," says Ethan Venoit, a 3+1 Barney student and President of BLC.
The Career Closet acts as a loaning system, where any student can borrow items for 2 weeks. Students will have the opportunity to sign out clothing and borrow any item of their choice at no charge. Items that can be borrowed include (but are not limited to): blazers, button-down shirts, dresses, blouses, slacks, ties, skirts, and shoes.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The closet was featured on NBC CT last year, watch here.
