On Sept. 9 and 10, Girl Scouts from across Connecticut visited UHart to learn about and launch rockets with NASA CT Space Grant! The attendees gathered outside GSU and the Hursey Center to build their own rockets made from film canisters, soda bottles, model rockets, and other recycled materials.

"Middle and high school girls worked with David Mestre, Connecticut astrophysicist, and community-based STEM educator, to learn about how rockets work – including payload, propulsion, and aerodynamics" CT Space Grant shared in a blog post highlighting the event.

The Girl Scouts were joined by current UHart biology, chemistry, health sciences, and engineering students, who shared their experiences pursuing STEM-related careers.

NASA CT Space Grant Program Director, April Michaud, shared that "It was a really wonderful collaboration with Girl Scouts of CT, and the UHart students that came and spoke did a wonderful job of sharing their experiences" She added "We can now hope that some of these girls were excited to explore UHart when they are headed to college."
