President Stephen Mulready M’77 and two deans were pleased to welcome State Representative Matt Ritter, speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, on Aug. 29, to tour the University of Hartford academic spaces serving in-demand industries.

College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions Dean Cesarina Thompson and College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture Dean Hisham Alnajjar showed Ritter the nursing and engineering labs in the Hursey Center. State Representative Emmanuel Sanchez, who works at the University, also showed Ritter around campus.

Ritter represents UHart’s district and had a chance to learn about new programs, as well as partnerships with local companies and how UHart students are preparing to make a difference in their chosen fields.

Hursey, the newest academic building on campus boasts state-of-the-art technology with life-like manikins in realistic hospital settings, highly specialized equipment in physical therapy program spaces, robotics labs, wind tunnels for aerospace courses, a 3D printing lab, a fully equipped machine shop, a 20-ton overhead crane in the structural engineering lab, and much more. Academic programs hosted in Hursey are positioning students for successful careers in health care and a wide range of engineering specialties.
