UHart FSAE Races at Michigan International Speedway
The University of Hartford's Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) team made an impact at this year’s competition held at Michigan International Speedway. FSAE is an organization that focuses on providing students with hands-on engineering experience including research, design, manufacturing, programming, and assembly of formula-style vehicles. Through these skills, team members spend one year building a car to race at the international competition.
The event began with a technical inspection process of their vehicle and out of 120 participating teams, UHart FSAE became the 19th to pass. Team co-captain Ali Geci is pictured proudly applying the official sticker.
The following day, the team went through a second round of safety tests, and successfully obtained all four test stickers—tech, tilt, sound, and brake. Compared to last year, the team consistently scored higher in every event. UHart elevated their standing by 15 percentage points and improved their overall score by an impressive 38 percent. A judge even extended a job offer to one of the team members.
Overall, UHart FSAE is a great opportunity for students interested in finding community while strengthening their build and design skills. As one of the most immersive clubs on campus, students will be able to experience all aspects of engineering throughout the year to find what part interests them most.
