The 2023 Day of Giving saw increases across the board over last year in the number of gifts, alumni paying it forward, donors supporting the University of Hartford, and guests at kick-off events.

Through 908 donors making gifts totaling $329,186, the campus community will benefit from support for financial aid, clubs and organizations, academic programs, and much more. Donors offering 27 challenges and 12 matches gave an incredible boost to the festivities, motivating even more people to make a difference.

Around 44% of gifts were from alumni, marking a 12-percent increase over 2022 and making them the largest group of donors for the Day of Giving. Prior to the special day, alums attended Hawk Pride events in Hartford and Boston, and New York City, which sold out, as well as a sold-out Student Government Association reunion. UHart welcomed 167 alumni attendees between all of the events.

The Black Student Union also launched its involvement at the annual fashion show. Both the SGA and BSU were key partners in the Day of Giving for the first time this year.

Celebrations during the much-anticipated March 29 event started with a fair in Gengras Student Union featuring photo opps, cookies, stickers, and socks as thank-you gifts, and continued into the evening with a fire pit party at Poe Park and plenty of s’mores for students, faculty, and staff, alumni, and even local parents.

Members of the graduating class also received a special cord if they made a gift.

The Day of Giving creates a culture of philanthropy, while also showcasing the ways donors make a dynamic student experience possible for members of the UHart community.
