A Message from Board of Regents Chair David Gordon
Dear University Community,
Thank you,
University of Hartford Board of Regents
Dear University Community,
As you learned last week, President Greg Woodward has announced his plan to retire at the end of his contract this summer, a decision he reached after a great deal of thought and reflection.
The Board of Regents is deeply grateful for all he has brought to the University and its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and larger community. The many accomplishments of his six-year tenure were outlined in the full announcement, including the addition of the incredible Hursey Center, 16 new and exciting academic programs, and his steady leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. We acknowledge how many of you in the UHart community have contributed to these multiple successes—and on behalf of the Board, thank you.
While celebrating the transformative progress of the last six years, we must also turn our attention to the future. The selection of UHart’s seventh president will be a multifaceted process, incorporating the perspective and feedback of many University constituencies. The Board of Regents is currently in the process of identifying and interviewing national search firms to lead us through our next steps. While we plan to establish a representative committee and begin a search immediately, it will be necessary to appoint interim leadership since the search will extend beyond July 1. We will continue to provide the University with detailed updates as we move forward this spring.
This is an important moment for our University and I assure you that we will follow a comprehensive and collaborative search process. We look forward to partnering with the campus community as we seek a dynamic and strong leader to continue propelling UHart into an ambitious and prominent future.
Thank you,
David Gordon '75, Chair
University of Hartford Board of Regents
