Professor Nagurney Collaborates on Study Published in the Journal of Global Optimization
Ladimer S. Nagurney, professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering in CETA, in collaboration with researchers from Italy and the US, has published an article, A three-stage stochastic optimization model integrating 5G technology and UAVs for disaster management, in the Journal of Global Optimization. The article describes using a fleet of UAVs (drones), organized as a Flying Ad-Hoc Network, to extend 5G cellular coverage and services over a region of a disaster. It formulates the important optimization problem of quantifying the UAV-enhanced 5G services during the preparedness, response, and reconstruction phases of a disaster.
The article is available on the journal's website as Open Access.
