At Nichols, Skowyra provides leadership for all financial affairs of the College, guidance for strategic planning initiatives, and regulatory oversight.  In addition to her senior-level duties, her current role includes direct responsibility for financial operations, budget, accounts payable, student accounts, and investment and treasury oversight.

“Jamie’s vast experience in public accounting and record of success in higher education make her a great addition to our leadership team,” said Chief Operating Officer Mark Boxer. “We welcome her back to Connecticut and look forward to her joining the UHart community.”

Skowyra joined Nichols from Hampshire College, where she provided operational leadership for financial operations and support to the executive team. She implemented financial reporting software providing key decision makers with timely financial information and metrics. Prior to joining Hampshire, Skowyra was a senior audit associate in the Higher Education group at KPMG in Hartford, where she was responsible for auditing higher education and not-for-profit entities in the New England area.

A certified public accountant licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut, Skowyra holds a master’s degree in accountancy and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western New England University. Her higher education memberships include the National Association of College and University and Business Officers and The Council of Independent Colleges. Skowyra is also a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts.

“During these unique and exciting times in higher education, I am committed to bringing my skills and experience to the University of Hartford to build upon its many successes,” Skowyra says. “I am especially looking forward to meeting all the wonderful students, faculty, and staff that have made the University what it is today.”
