Hispanic Heritage Month Faculty Spotlight: Karla Loya

In honor of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement will be spotlighting campus community members of Hispanic/Latinx heritage weekly throughout the month.
Our third spotlight celebrates Karla Loya, PhD. A Latina and first-generation college student, Karla Loya is a recently tenured associate professor and director of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program in the Education Department. This is her 7th year at the University of Hartford, and her 24th year in the United States. Karla’s scholarship seeks to interrogate educational systems and practices and find ways for universities and colleges to become more inclusive and supportive.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating professor Loya for her dedication to creating a more welcoming and equitable educational environment!
