Employee Affinity Network Showcase Nov. 12

In an effort to further our commitment to inclusion and to foster a welcoming community, we invite University employees to join one (or more) of the Employee Affinity Networks. To provide more insight into these groups, their mission and goals, and how to get involved, the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement is hosting an Employee Affinity Network Showcase on Friday, Nov. 12 at 2:30pm on Zoom (access information below).

All seven Affinity Networks will be showcased during the event: Faculty of Marginalized Genders Affinity Network, I-SEE International Affinity Network, Interfaith Affinity Network, LGBT+ Staff and Faculty Affinity Network, Staff and Faculty of Color Affinity Network, UHart Disabilities Affinity Network, and Women’s Affinity Network.

The goals of the Employee Affinity Networks are to:

• build and create a sense of community
• advocate for and support the recruitment, retention, and advancement of faculty and staff
• create opportunities to network and collaborate
• offer the opportunity to be an active contributor to campus life.
• support respect and advancement for all
• broaden cultural awareness
• identify and/or develop opportunities for professional development 

Employees can use these safe spaces to support, understand, and share resources and information to connect with University of Hartford communities while transcending colleges, units, and job classifications. Employee Affinity Networks are fully supported by the Office of the President and are voluntary, employee-led groups that express the values of mutual understanding and shared community.

Non-exempt staff members can request release time to attend up to two (2) hours monthly. Additional release time may be considered and granted at the discretion of the supervisor. 

Affinity Networks encourage inclusive membership and do not exclude on the basis of sex, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, disability, mental illness or ability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity/expression, sex characteristics, religious creed, or individual political opinions.
