Partnership Council News for Summer 2021

July 15, 2021
Submitted By: University of Hartford Partnership Council
The University of Hartford Partnership Council looks forward to another productive and fulfilling academic year in 2021–22.

The Partnership Council, which includes representatives from each of UHart’s schools, colleges, and administrative departments, focuses on building a culture that encourages cross-college communication and collaboration. The Council provides resources and support to members of the wider campus community to ensure the success of the mutually beneficial relationships that enhance our students’ academic, intellectual, and entrepreneurial skills.

Formed in 2016, the Partnership Council meets monthly to:
  • Share information on current and prospective University partner activities

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to positively impact our curriculum

  • Increase communication, visibility, and awareness of—and support for—partnership activities across campus

  • Share best practices, systems of accountability, and information on industry trends.

One of our major current initiatives is a partnership we have crafted with the Five Points Center for the Visual Arts. Read a detailed story on this exciting partnership in the current issue of H magazine.

We look forward to sponsoring more engaging events in the new year. During the past year, we presented  Innovation in Hartford, a virtual panel discussion focused on how  accelerator and start-up businesses are making their marks in the the capital city and beyond, and how different segments of the UHart community can be a part of this new wave of creativity and entrepreneurship. You may still view this panel discussion on demand.

The Partnership Council this past year also helped promote UHart's valuable affiliation with Real Industry, a nonprofit organization that educates, inspires, and empowers students to thrive in the music, media, and technology industries. To accomplish this mission, Real Industry creates hands-on workshops (“design challenges”) where students work with industry mentors to tackle a real-world product, technical, or business problem. Students are exposed to new career paths in industry, develop new skills, and rapidly expand their professional networks.

Any members of the campus community who would like to share information or ideas regarding cross-college collaborations with the Partnership Council, please email Lynn Baronas.

Best wishes for a safe and relaxing second half of summer from the Partnership Council.
