Remembering Stephen Misovich

September 09, 2020
Stephen Misovich

It is with a profound sense of sadness that we share the news that our colleague, Stephen Misovich, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, September 6.

Steve joined the Social Sciences Department of Hillyer College in 1998 and taught psychology there for the past 22 years as Associate Professor. He also taught for the College of Arts & Sciences and the University Interdisciplinary Studies program.

Steve earned his doctoral degree at the University of Connecticut. The American Psychological Association presented him with the Instructional Research Award for his infusion of web-based materials into classes. He had served as an editor or reviewer for journals such as The American Psychologist, The Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and Health Psychology.

“His work on risk behaviors among high school students has been studied at major universities” said David Goldenberg, Dean of Hillyer College. “But more than that, Steve was committed to student success and the development of an appreciation, if not love, for the field of psychology.  He will by missed by colleagues and students alike.”

Final arrangements have not yet been announced.
