University of Hartford's Women's Business Center Turns 20

At the Women's Business Center, we are celebrating 20 years of serving women in business! Join us for an evening of hors d'oeuvres, networking, and presentations by our esteemed speakers, including Doris Sugarman, co-founder and CEO of the Connecticut Forum, Annie Lamont, Connecticut's First Lady, and Sabrina Tucker-Barrett, President/CEO of Girls for Technology.

Where: The celebration will be held Thursday, October 24th from 4-7pm at the University of Hartford's Gengras Student Union.

Tickets: Purchase your tickets by this Sunday, October 6 and save with our early bird special of only $25 a ticket. Starting October 7, tickets are $35.

Doris Sugarman has been widely recognized for her pioneering work as co-founder and chief executive officer of The Connecticut Forum, a nonprofit that has been presenting live, unscripted panel discussions among world-renowned experts and celebrities, and high-impact community outreach programs since its creation in 1992. Doris has been honored with numerous awards for her work and community service, including being named one of Hartford Magazine's 2012 Female Leaders and among Hartford Magazine's 50 Most Influential Leaders in 2009. Doris also founded The Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame.

Annie Lamont is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Oak HC/FT where she focuses on growth equity and early-stage venture opportunities in Healthcare and FinTech. She has a long history of supporting women entrepreneurs and helping them make their dreams come true through venture capital. She has appeared on the Forbes Midas List, Institutional Investor's FinTech Finance 40 List, and the Top 100 Venture Capitalists ranking published by CB Insights and The New York Times.

Sabrina M. Tucker-Barrett, a native of New London, CT, is the Co-Founder President/CEO of Girls for Technology Inc., located in Hartford, CT. Tucker-Barrett has more than 10 years of experience working in the private and public sector. It was through a community need and her own personal love for technology and innovation that Girls for Technology was formed. As a result of her own personal experiences of being an underrepresented women of color working in corporate America, and her desire to advocate for change in her community for marginalized girls and young women who want to pursue professions in STEM fields, especially those living in poverty driven urban communities.
