Two Hartt Alumni Perform with Chicago Symphony Orchestra
On July 26, two Hartt alumni performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the same concert. Brian Johnston, 2nd Trombone of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic (BM Hartt - 2016), and Schuyler Jackson, 2nd Bassoon of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BM Hartt - 2013). The concert was at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's summer venue Ravinia, which is about 40 minutes North of Chicago Symphony Center, in Highland Park, Illinois. The piece was Mahler's 8th symphony, which is nicknamed: Symphony of a Thousand, due to there being roughly 400 on-stage and off-stage musicians. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is regarded as one of the greatest orchestras in the world.
