The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) has specific faculty involved in a local project here in Connecticut. Professor Chittaranjan Sahay, Assistant Professor Imdat As, and Assistant Professor Kiwon Sohn serve on a committee to expand the Center for Robotics, Engineering Science and Technology (CREST) that opened in 2017 to enhance the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education for Glastonbury Public Schools. The objective for the program is to “Create transformational programs of distinction in STEAM Education at Glastonbury High School and in the integrated Glastonbury Regional Agri-Science and Technology Program.”

This multidisciplinary learning space will serve as a hub for STEAM education and for the development of innovative thinking and practices. As an extension of the current CREST lab environment, this space will provide for engineering and robotics components of instruction.

The proposed flexible learning space will equip students with resources and environment to support development of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration skills through the engineering process, provide accessibility to activities that support coursework and extracurricular STEAM opportunities related to engineering, design, and robotics.
