With a heart full of compassion and a commitment to advocacy, Molly Yale ’24 embarked on her nursing journey at UHart with a clear purpose—to be a beacon of light for her patients during their darkest moments.
As she prepares to graduate, Molly is focused on her next steps: studying diligently to pass her NCLEX exam and beginning her career as a registered nurse at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, specializing in hematology/oncology.
During her time at UHart, Molly seized every opportunity to immerse herself in clinical experiences, shaping her into the nurse she aspires to be. “UHart puts a lot of emphasis on hands-on opportunities within the BSN program (Bachelors of Science in Nursing),” she says, “which has helped me to grow academically and personally during my time here.” Molly completed her senior capstone experience at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, where she worked in pain and palliative care clinics and the infusion center. This provided her with invaluable hands-on experience that landed her a job before graduation.
Reflecting on her UHart experience, Molly acknowledges the University's role in shaping her nursing journey. “The University of Hartford instilled in me the skills to care for others and a foundation for nursing as a whole,” she explains. “UHart gave me a high-quality education, faculty expertise, and so many networking opportunities that ultimately guided me to the job of my dreams.”
A pivotal moment for Molly was her summer internship at Middlesex Hospital, where she worked on an oncology/med-surge unit. Under the guidance of experienced nurses, she gained insight and skills that have become invaluable to her nursing practice. The mentorship she received during this time left a lasting impression, shaping her approach to nursing and instilling her with a deep sense of gratitude.
At UHart, Molly forged many meaningful connections, including with Victoria Connors, the manager of admissions for the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions. This connection led to her role as an ENHP student ambassador, where she honed her public speaking and leadership skills, further enriching her college experience.
One of Molly's favorite memories at UHart was co-founding the Student Nursing Association club. What began as a casual conversation among friends blossomed into a thriving organization that has made a positive impact on the community through various events and initiatives.
Molly singles out the sense of community and belonging as what she likes most about UHart. “I love being a part of a close-knit community where everyone is encouraged to thrive and succeed,” she emphasizes.
Molly's advice to incoming students is simple: “Say ‘hi’ to the person next to you in class. Before you know it, they could potentially become your study buddy!”
With her passion, dedication, and compassionate spirit, Molly Yale is poised to make a meaningful difference in the world of nursing, guided by the values instilled in her at the University of Hartford.
