Alec Capasso '23 is a senior in the Barney School of Business 3+1 program, where he will be getting both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in 4 years. He is a finance major and entrepreneurship minor. Alec has a passion for fitness and is a personal trainer. He offers custom workout plans, nutrition plans, one-on-one coaching, and online video calls. He uploads all of his clients to his program, which includes calorie and exercise tracking, a scheduled calendar with goals, tasks, and the workout provided.
When a client starts a workout, they will be able to track their heart rate, V02 Max, and calories burned through the app. Alec also provides instructional videos on each exercise that he assigns. For the nutrition coaching program, everyone gets a customer meal plan, this includes calories and nutrient goals for them. Also, specific foods for each meal, with ingredients needed, cooking time, and nutrition information is also added.
“I love making a difference for people. Seeing my clients be able to do things that they were not able to do before is a great feeling. I love doing the research on a healthy lifestyle and implementing it both for myself and my clients. I love pushing my clients to their limits and showing them what they are capable of doing."
Alec is always accepting new clients and does training in-person at a local studio. When it comes to his future career path, Alec completed an internship as a Finance and Communications intern at The Andiron Group and Sterling RISQ. He also was a Finance intern at Travelers over the Summer which had led to him accepting a job at Travelers in their Finance Leadership and Development Program.
“Barney supported me through providing real life experiences. Running through simulations in classes, constantly having outside corporations come to the school, and the Barney Passport program equips students for the real world. The entrepreneurial skills learned all help me think outside of the box on my work and take various approaches to solving problems. I feel I can approach a problem by looking at more perspectives learned in my classes.”
Alec’s advice to other Barney students is “You can do anything that you want no matter how hard it may seem. Put one foot forward, get to work, and push through the challenges.”
