UHart Student Athletes Show K-5 Kids the Ropes in LoMaglio Youth Sports Clinic

University of Hartford student-athletes helped more than 50 children in grades K-5 hone their athletic skills in the first-ever Dr. A. Peter LoMaglio Day of Service Youth Sports Clinic.

LoMaglio Day of Service Youth Sports Clinic

Youngsters spent a Sunday afternoon sampling a number of athletic stations on the UHart campus, including baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball.

It’s all part of the annual LoMaglio Day of Community Service and Citizenship, named in honor of the University’s first director of athletics. Dr. LoMaglio, who passed away in 2015, was often called the “father of Hartford athletics.” LoMaglio was a strong proponent of advancing the notion that education and sports are crucial in developing productive and responsible citizens.

This annual event is made possible through the generosity of the following lead donors to the Dr. A. Peter LoMaglio Citizenship Fund:

  • Robert H. Forrester ’66, Hon. ’17 and Linda A. Forrester; Lifetime Regent, Men’s Soccer 1962-1965
