Architecture Students Study Abroad in Italy; Rising Senior Honored
This past spring, nine undergraduate students from the Department of Architecture spent the semester studying abroad at the International Studies Institute (ISI) in Florence, Italy. The students took design studio and architecture monuments courses from University of Hartford Associate Professor Theodore Sawruk. Additional courses in Italian language, humanities, art history and urban studies were taught by local academics.
Students who participated in the study abroad program included Nohemi Arpi, Giancarlo Cano, Ryan McKenzie, Tashana McLean, Samantha Ng, Andrew Petersen, Andrew Thompson, Alex Toth, and Kobe Willis.
At the end of the semester, Andrew Petersen ’20 was awarded an ISI Florence Spring 2019 Outstanding Achievement in Architectural Studies by Dr. Stefano Baldassarri, institute Director, for his design proposals: An Archeological Laboratory, Pompeii and An Islamic Center for the Piazza dei Ciompi, Florence.
