C. F. Payne is an award-winning artist-illustrator whose artwork has graced the covers of Time Magazine, Readers Digest, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times Book Review and Sunday Magazine, The Washington Post, MAD Magazine, der Spiegel, U.S. News and World Report, The Atlantic Monthly, Texas Monthly, Boys Life and more. He has been commissioned to paint countless politicians, authors and entertainers including a series of postage stamps for the US Postal Service. He has illustrated twenty children’s picture books, including The Remarkable Farkle McBride by John Lithgow and Mousetronaut by Mark Kelly.
His artwork has been exhibited at The Cincinnati Art Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Society of Illustrators Museum of American Illustration, The MAZZA Children’s Book Museum, The Huntington Museum of Art, The Selby Gallery at Ringling College of Art and Design and numerous college and university galleries.
In 2012 he was awarded the Distinguished Educator Award by the Society of Illustrators and in 2018 he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.
